Building on an ongoing piece of work which explores the potential for modern methods of construction to help deliver affordable homes on small sites, RCKa is one of several contributors to have contributed an article to the Housing Festival’s MMC Playbook.
Unlocking Small Sites describes the practice’s experience is developing small site-specific planning policy for both Lewisham and Bexley Councils, and how schemes previously described as “windfall sites” can, when considered across the whole of London, make a significant dent in housing demand. But to embrace this opportunity, planning authorities need to introduce specific guidance to help applicants achieve the greatest opportunity for success and to encourage new development come forward.
A copy of the document can be downloaded from the Housing Festival website, and an accompanying exhibition will be opening at London’s Building Centre in October this year.
