Inspiring a new generation: Lauren’s Journey with RCKa’s Re-Set-Go Programme

Through the Re-Set-Go programme, I was placed with RCKa and spent the course of my six-week placement working on a small site project located in Lewisham. The proposal is a part of Lewisham’s Local plan and the affordable housing scheme. Focusing on the small sites document, I used this to inform my design approach and research in view of what could be developed on the site.

During this time, I developed my proficiency in CAD software, went on site visits, gained an understanding about planning permissions, and sat in weekly design reviews. Alongside having a supportive mentor and supervisor(s), each week I worked with all my colleagues, who introduced working methods and resources that allowed me the means to produce thorough site research as well as learning how to effectively carry the narrative I wanted to come across in the work I produced. I was encouraged to explore my interests and taught each week new skill sets that helped me grow in confidence and made it overall, a productive experience.
