Highgate Newtown Community Centre wins Civic Trust Award

“A powerful example of how thoughtful, inclusive architecture can deliver meaningful social value, creating a place that is not only functional but genuinely life- enhancing for the community it serves.”

That was the verdict of the judges for this year’s Civic Trust Awards, who last night gave RCKa’s Highgate Newtown Community Centre for Camden Council, a coveted award.

Associate Director and Project Architect Alan Beveridge was at the ceremony in Manchester, joined by Sarah O’Neill from Camden Council and Paul Shirley Smith from Camlins, who was responsible for the outstanding landscape design.

HNCC has been a transformative project for RCKa, but the project’s greatest impact is on the local community who were instrumental in its genesis and design, and are now a vital part of this thriving public asset in the heart of the borough.
