We’re delighted that our Chigwell later living development for Retirement Villages Group was approved at Epping Forest’s planning committee on Thursday evening. Officers recommended the scheme for approval, celebrating the design excellence and landscape-led masterplan.
Our site is located on a hillside within the Roding Valley, and the proposals exploit the topography to create a series of efficient villa blocks that encourage incidental interaction between neighbours. The scheme includes new social infrastructure that will be accessible to the wider community too. RCKa’s history with Chigwell stretches back more than a decade, and this proposal marks a major milestone for the practice.
The site was allocated in Epping Forest’s local plan for 105 homes, but we achieved an increase to 144: an uplift of 37%. Chigwell is the third scheme that RCKa has designed for RVG. The first, on the outskirts of Chester, is due to complete early in 2025. The second, in West Malling, Kent, secured planning permission last year and will start on site in the coming months. We’re looking forward to working with RVG to bring these much-needed new homes to Chigwell in the next few years.
Our team included Camlins, who worked on the landscape design, and these lovely visuals are by Pillar.
