RCKa has been chosen to design a mixed-use building within Lendlease’s Smithfield Birmingham development.
Our appointment is part of a larger team of architects consisting of both established and up-and-coming practices, each of which will be responsible for designing individual buildings within a wider masterplan set out by Prior+Partners with support from WSP, James Corner Field Operations and DP9. Together these projects form the first phase of a £1.9bn regeneration project in partnership with Birmingham City Council.
RCKa is collaborating with local practice Intervention Architecture, which is involved in both this project and a second designed by dRMM. Haworth Tompkins and Minesh Patel Architects complete the set of teams joining David Kohn Architects working across this initial phase.
Lendlease development director James Amos said: “Our chosen team of architects brings a fantastic blend of creativity, local talent and experience, alongside a clear commitment to sustainability.”
