We’re delighted that the small sites Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) that we wrote for Lewisham Council, in collaboration with our friends at Ash Sakula Architects, has won the Planning Award for Improving Housing Delivery.
Adopted in October 2021, the document sets out clear guidelines for how Lewisham can help meet the ambitious small site housing target set out in the London Plan, and provides clear guidance for applicants and officers on how the borough’s policies should be interpreted to help increase the number of homes delivered.
As well as undertaking the in-depth research and detailed mapping work, RCKa’s in-house graphic designers created a striking and recognisable identity for the suite of documents and put together a mobile-responsive website providing convenient and accessible access to the guidance.
The judges praised “a clear example of making positive steps to try and increase housing delivery” and “an approach that could be replicated by other local planning authorities”.
